Explanation of Additional SMS Billing in BoomCRM

Understanding SMS Billing

At BoomCRM, we include 1000 SMS in your standard monthly plan. If you use more than 1000 SMS, additional blocks of 1000 SMS will be automatically added and billed according to your usage. Here’s how it works in simple terms:

  1. Base Monthly Plan: You are entitled to 1000 SMS each month at no extra cost.
  2. Additional Blocks: If you send or receive more than 1000 SMS, a new block of 1000 SMS will be added to your bill.
  3. Automatic Billing: Each time you exceed a multiple of 1000 SMS, a new block is added and billed. For example, if you send or receive 1500 SMS in one month, you will be billed for 2 blocks of 1000 SMS each (the first included in your plan, and the second as an extra).

SMS Segments

SMS messages are not always sent in a single block, especially if your message is long. Here’s how it works:

  1. Length of an SMS: A standard SMS can contain up to 70 characters.
  2. Longer Messages: If your message exceeds 70 characters, it will be split into segments. For example, a message of 140 characters will be sent in 2 segments.
  3. Counting Segments: Each segment counts as one SMS. So, if you send a message of 140 characters, it will count as 2 SMS.

Practical Example

Imagine you send and receive a total of 1200 SMS messages in one month. Here’s how it will be billed:

  • You use your 1000 included SMS.
  • The additional 200 SMS will be added as 1 extra block of 1000 SMS.
  • You will be billed for 1 block of 1000 SMS.

Summary

  1. You have 1000 SMS included each month.
  2. Each time you exceed 1000 SMS, you are billed for additional blocks of 1000 SMS.
  3. Long messages are divided into segments of 70 characters, each segment counting as one SMS.
  4. Both incoming and outgoing SMS are counted towards your total SMS usage.
